The term "Black People" refers to individuals who identify with the African diaspora, and are characterized by their dark skin color due to melanin production in their skin cells. This group includes people from various ethnic backgrounds such as Nigerians, Kenyans, South Africans among others. They share a common history of being descendants of Africa and have been subjected to the same historical experiences that shaped their culture, traditions, beliefs, values, and social norms. The term "Black" is often used interchangeably with African-American or Black American when referring to people from the United States who trace their ancestry back to enslaved Africans brought to North America.
